Reconstructing the radial profiles of gas density and temperature in clusters of galaxies from high-resolution X-ray and radio observations

چکیده
We describe a non-parametric method to reconstruct gas density and temperature profiles of galaxy clusters from observations of X-ray surface brightness, emissionweighted temperature and the y-parameter through the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect. This method is based on the inversion of the projected profiles under the spherically symmetric approximation, which is independent of the equation of state of cluster gas and does not assume that the gas is in hydrostatic equilibrium. In particular we examine the reliability of the reconstruction method assuming a few theoretical models for cluster gas and assigning the statistical errors expected for future X-ray and radio observations. We also discuss briefly the effect of non-sphericity on the basis of simulated clusters. Subject headings: cosmology: theory – dark matter – galaxies: clusters: general – X-rays: galaxies

Reconstruction of Temperature and Density Profiles of Galaxy Clusters Using the Combination of Sunyaev-Zel’dovich Effect and X-ray Observations
In this paper, we use the observations of Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect and Xray surface brightness to reconstruct the radial profiles of gas temperature and density under the assumption of spherically symmetric distribution of gas. The reconstruction method, firstly raised by Silk & White (1978), is directly dependent on the experimental measurements of Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect and X-ray surface ...

In this paper we examine how well galaxies and intra-cluster gas trace the gravitational potential of clusters. Utilizing mass profiles derived from gravitational lensing and X-ray observations, coupled with measured galaxy velocities, we solve for the velocity anisotropy parameter βorb(r) using the anisotropic Jeans equation. This is done for five clusters, three at low redshift: A2199, A496 a...
متن کاملRadial density and temperature profiles of the intracluster gas constructed jointly from the X-ray surface brightness measurement and the universal density profile
In this paper we have made an attempt to derive the radial profiles of density and temperature of intracluster gas based on the two well-established facts at present: the X-ray observed surface brightness of clusters described by the standard β model and the (NFW) universal density profile as the underlying dark matter distribution. We have numerically solved the hydrostatic equation by demandi...
متن کاملReconstructing Three-dimensional Structure of Underlying Triaxial Dark Halos From X-ray and Sunyaev–Zel’dovich Effect Observations of Galaxy Clusters
While the use of galaxy clusters as tools to probe cosmology is established, their conventional description still relies on the spherical and/or isothermal models that were proposed more than 20 years ago. We present, instead, a deprojection method to extract their intrinsic properties from X-ray and Sunyaev– Zel’dovich effect observations in order to improve our understanding of cluster physic...
متن کاملReexamination of the Galaxy Formation-Regulated Gas Evolution Model in Groups and Clusters
As an alternative explanation of the entropy excess and the steepening of the X-ray luminosity-temperature relation in groups and clusters, the galaxy formation-regulated gas evolution (GG) model proposed recently by Bryan makes an attempt to incorporate the formation of galaxies into the evolution of gas without additional heating by nongravitational processes. This seems to provide a unified ...
